signTEK develops take-away solution for "Jim Block" on Intershop

Jena, Mannheim, April 15, 2021 – signTEK has developed a Click&Collect solution for "Jim Block" based on Intershop 7.10. The Better-Burger chain with restaurants in Hamburg, Berlin and Hanover can thus offer its customers a flexible take-away offer and benefits from a seamless integration of the individual stores into the solution.

Under the "Jim Block" brand, the Hamburg-based Block Group (including Block House) operates a total of twelve Better Burger restaurants in Hamburg, Berlin and Hanover. In 2019, Jim Block served around 1.8 million burger menus to its more than 1.5 million guests. The focus was on brick-and-mortar business as well as take-out orders. To offer burger fans more flexible options, Jim Block decided to launch click-and-collect ordering. The aim was to give guests the opportunity to configure their individual burger menu online and then pick it up contactless in the store.

Customized burgers and full integration

When the project started in September 2020, the aim was to develop a Click&Collect concept specifically tailored to the restaurant business as an Intershop 7.10 solution. In order to provide guests with maximum flexibility and convenience when ordering, signTEK developed a module that allows guests to put together their burger individually and see the price immediately. At the same time, they receive a pick-up time accurate to five minutes when they place their order.

Another focus was on the integration of the stores with their individual settings. The solution developed by signTEK allows each store to manage different pickup windows and inventory levels. All orders and cancellations can also be individually controlled and processed via the store app.

Also important was the integration of the Jim Block customer card, which customers can now already use when paying in the online store. Parallel to the technical infrastructure, signTEK developed a fresh and clear user interface in a mobile-first layout in cooperation with the Hamburg-based advertising agency food beverage incorporation, which is uncomplicated and intuitive to use. "With the Click&Collect ordering system for Jim Block, we have been able to implement a highly innovative solution with many individual requirements and at the same time further expand our expertise in the gastronomy sector," Steffen Höpfinger, CEO of signTEK, draws a thoroughly positive conclusion.

Happy customers and efficient service

Since the go-live in February of this year, Jim Block guests have benefited from a flexible online service that allows them to conveniently configure their burgers online and then pick them up on schedule at the restaurant. "We at Jim Block are happy to be able to offer our guests this new service and thank signTEK for implementing this complex solution," emphasizes Jim Block General Manager Kristin Putzke. "The Click&Collect offer has been very well received by our guests from day one." The next step will now be to develop and configure a slot manager so that orders can be processed even more efficiently during peak periods.
